About the USTA/Middle States Philadelphia Area Tennis District (USTA/MS/PATD)

The Philadelphia Area Tennis District is a regional district of the United States Tennis Association's Middle States section (USTA/MS).

The USTA/MS/Philadelphia Area Tennis District (USTA/MS/PATD) encompasses the city of Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs: Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties.

A volunteer-based, nonprofit organization, USTA/MS/PATD is dedicated to carrying out the goals of the national association within its region, particularly with respect to promoting tennis opportunities for juniors and adults of all abilities and cultural backgrounds.

The district co-existed with the Philadelphia Interclub Association until 1955 when the Middle States Tennis Association, a section of the United States Lawn Tennis Association, recognized the district as the official body of tennis in the Philadelphia five-county area.

Since 1955, individual membership has grown to more than 11 thousand.

In addition, organizational members includes clubs, schools, parks and recreation facilities.

Our mission is to encourage all players to join in the fun of competitive and recreational play and to take advantage of numerous programs offered by the USTA.
