Women's pro tennis event returns to Philadelphia area November 1-7

PHILADELPHIA (June 17, 2004) - Tickets for the 2004 Advanta Championships, November 1-7 at the Pavilion at Villanova University, are now on sale. Tickets for the Advanta Championships are available by calling 866-TENNIS-5 or at the tournament website at www.advantachampionships.com. Box seat ticket packages are $225-$2,000. Individual session tickets range from $10 to $60. The Championships are also extending special discount offers to fans that purchase Diamond, Gold and Platinum packages before July 1.

"For the next several weeks, the sports world will be focused on tennis, as the best players head to Wimbledon," said Peter Fishbach, Tournament Chairman. "We expect a number of those top players to be here in Philadelphia for the Advanta Championships in November, so now is the time for tennis fans to get their tickets."

The Championships' limited-time discount on box seat packages includes a $200 savings on the Diamond package, regularly priced at $2,000, and savings of $100 off the Platinum and Gold Club Packages, if purchased before July 1. Amelie Mauresmo captured the 2003 Advanta Championships singles title with a 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 victory over 2004 French Open Champion Anastasia Myskina. U.S. Olympic hopefuls, Lisa Raymond of Wayne, Pa., and Martina Navratilova won the doubles championship. Players for the 2004 event will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Advanta Championships, in addition to awarding a $585,000 prize fund, is the final opportunity for players to qualify for the season-ending tour championships in Los Angeles, the following week. The 2004 Advanta Championships begin on Monday, Nov. 1, with the first round of main draw competition and conclude with the finals on Sunday, Nov. 7. The qualifying tournament runs Oct. 29-31 at the Healthplex Sports Club in Springfield, Pa.

Advanta is the title sponsor of the 2004 Advanta Championships. Host sponsors of the event are Porsche, Macy's, NBC 10 (WCAU-TV), WolfBlock, and CN8. Associate sponsors include WTA, Doubletree Guest Suites in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., MasterCard, HiFi House and Fastsigns of Delaware.
