2004 Freedoms Highlights & Scrapbook

Patrick Rafter
Rafter is "all smiles" in his debut performance with World TeamTennis and the WTT Philadelphia Freedoms. The Australian super-star played before a sell-out crowd for the season ending Freedoms home match against the Springfield Lasers. Rafter lead his Freedoms teammates to victory and promised Philly tennis fans he may be back for more WTT tennis action next season!

Navratilova Night
Life is good for Martina Navratilova these days. Navratilova was back in Philadelphia July 15th with the NY Buzz for a WTT matchup against the Philadelphia Freedoms. This is her 16th season with WTT. From here, Navratilova heads to Greece and the 2004 Olympics.

Raymond
Lisa Raymond came back home for her second season with the WTT Philadelphia Freedoms. Raymond took time out to meet with MS President Bette Salmon before heading out on court to play for an adoring crowd.

USTA Member Appreciation Night
USTA Membership has its benefits! On July 15th, USTA members received a $4 discount on tickets and were treated to a complimentary pre-match wine and cheese party. It was the 2nd annual USTA Member Appreciation Night with the WTT Philadelphia Freedoms.

Baby's 1st Racquet

Ooooh Baby! Could this be the next generation's tennis champion? The Advanta Corporation hopes so! This 11 year old baby got her first tennis racquet at a WTT Philadelphia Freedoms match at Cabrini College in Radnor this season. She may be the youngest recipient of the Advanta Corporation's "Ready, Set, Racquet" program in which Advanta is donating 30 thousand junior tennis racquets to children attending professional tennis events.

Andre Agassi

Philly Fans pack the stands at Cabrini College in Radnor to watch one of the greatest players of all time: Andre Agassi. Agassi, the official Ambassador of WTT was playing as a Sacramento Capitol. Even with Agassi's troubled hip, the Capitols defeated the Freedoms. Agassi praised the title sponsor Advanta for its commitment to WTT and campaign to distribute 30 thousand FREE tennis racquets to juniors who attend the pro tennis matches.

Lisa Raymond

Lisa Raymond is back in Philadelphia! The hometown favorite returned to Philadelphia as a "Freedom" July 14th after the FedCup season. Raymond's doubles and singles expertise paid off big in the contest against the Hartford FoxForce. The Freedoms easily upset Hartford 23-11. Freedoms fans were thrilled to have Raymond back on her "home turf".

Battle of the Mascots

Fun and Games! That's what WTT is all about! On July 14th, Philly tennis fans were treated to a colorful halftime display with the "Battle of the Mascots" ! "Swoop", from the Philadelphia Eagles, "Flex" from the Phantoms, "Chomp" from the NJ State Acquarium, "McGruff": from ADT, the "Bryn Mawr Owl", and "Racoon" from Fox 29 joined the WTT's "Slam" in comical on court antics.
