2004 Freedoms Kidcasters

2004 Kidcasters

Move Over Cliff Drysdale!

8 year old Carolyn Wong of Gladwynne and 12 year old Maura Watson of Wayne will be taking their place behind the official WTT Philadelphia Freedoms microphone this season!

Wong and Watson were chosen as this year's winners of the WTT Kidcasters Contest at the Upper Main Line Y in Berwyn in May.

The pair were chosen from a field of more than a dozen eager and aspiring sportscasters. Tennis star Luke Jensen helped them read a prepared sports script before a panel of judges. The contestants were judged on poise, creativity and delivery.

As winners of the contest, Wong and Watson will both be announcers at one Freedoms home match, have the chance to interview Andre Agassi or Patrick Rafter and appear on Comcast Sports Net. New to the 3 year old Kidcaster program this year, the girls may also get a shot at being a National Kidcaster Finalist and travel to the WTT Finals at the US Open in New York!

Both Wong and Watson are tennis lovers. Wong, a 2nd grader at the Baldwin School picked up the racquet this year and takes lessons at Levy Pavilion.

Watson, a 6th grader from Shipley has been playing tennis for 3 years and especially hopes to interview Andre Agassi.
