Lower Merion Senior Wins State Championship for AAA Division!
State Champ

George Mayer's name flies high above the rafters in the Lower Merion High School gymnasium now along with the likes of Lower Merion grad and NBA star, Kobe Bryant!

In May, Mayer became the first male player in his school's history to win an individual state tennis championship. He beat Thomas Jefferson's Scott Kahler to capture the Class AAA state tournament title in Altoona: 6-4, 6-4.

"I'm in good company with Kobe Bryant now," Mayer said. "This is unbelievable. It's the highlight of my tennis career."

Mayer earned the right to compete in the state championships after capturing the district AAA singles title at Heatlhplex earlier in the month.

A second PATD High School student, Chris Louis, of Henderon HS in West Chester finished 3rd in the state competitions.
