The submission can be made via the Philadelphia Freedoms Facebook page-  and filling out the information in just a few quick steps. Submissions can also be posted on Instagram with the hash tag #ServingFreedom.
Alternatively, applicants can submit a 600 - 1000 word essay on “What does character mean to you?” by completing the application and emailing it to Jeff.Harrison2010@gmail.com.
Entries MUST be completed and submitted by July 3, 2014. First place winners chosen for the award will be given a $1,000 scholarship, and second place winners chosen will be given $500 scholarship.
Billie Jean King herself will present the award to the winners on July 17th, at the Freedoms home match against Venus Williams and the Washington Kastles.
The Freedoms and the Hamlin Family Foundation aim to discover how today’s youth interpret character. The Hamlin Family Foundation promotes CITRS as their philosophy for character building. CITRS stands for: Character, Integrity, Trust, Relationship, and Success. These are the 5 main qualities the Hamlin Family Foundation will be looking for in their applicants.
So what does Character mean to you? The Freedoms would love to know!  Kids ages 10 to 18 can enter by submitting an Instragram photo or video via the Freedoms Facebook page.
The Billie Jean King Character Award is made possible thanks to the Hamlin Family Foundation-Character Initiative and CITRS. For more information, please see full post or contact the Freedoms and Jeff Harrison at Jeff.Harrison2010@gmail.com.
