College Tennis Season Starts!
Looking to watch great tennis in a local environment? Check out a college match. The Philadelphia area is the home of many different colleges at a variety of levels. In most conferences, men and women’s team compete in the spring, meaning there is an abundance of competition to be seen.
Matches consist of singles and doubles and bring teams in from across the country. Many of our local teams also have players from across the world including University of Pennsylvania and Temple University. In Division 1 alone, the Philadelphia area has 6 schools- LaSalle, Drexel, UPenn, Temple, Villanova, and St. Joseph’s.
While Division 1 schools bring a lot of great talent, don’t forget about Division 2 and 3 which is a big part of the Philadelphia Landscape.  Philadelphia University is a stone’s throw away from Manyunk. On the main-line, we have Cabrini, Eastern, and Haverford among others that compete in the spring. Delaware County offers competitive teams from Neumann and Swarthmore. And West Chester University is a force to be reckoned with in the PSAC this year. Finally, former PATD and Middle States College Coach of the year Jim Holt leads a talented crew at Gwynedd-Mercy College each and every year. You may even see some familiar faces on some of these local teams as smaller collegiate teams often draw some of the best players in the area.
Collegiate Tennis offers a great chance to go see local tennis, so go check out a local team today! For schedules, just visit the college’s athletic website.
